Did you know that across Nigeria, an estimated 18.3 million children are currently out of school? That’s 10.2 million children of primary-school age and 8.1 million at the junior-secondary level! And this statistic is based on a 2024 United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) report, so it isn’t hear-say. 

What this means is that roughly 15% of the global out-of-school cumulative stems from Nigeria, especially the rural and northern regions.
