Last Saturday, we invited the FLA Kids enrolled in our Disadvantage to Advantage Initiative to join us for a brunch at Woodgreen, Lekki. About half the children in attendance were not part of our last Valentine’s Brunch, which we held at Foodies Lekki in 2020, right before the lockdown. It was great to see so many new children that Fair Life Africa is taking from disadvantage to advantage!

Three children from the Primary, Junior, and Senior Secondary classes gave their presentation on the meaning of Valentine. The Children were also split into two groups for a quiz session. This was an interactive session that they found enjoyable, as you can see from the pictures.

Food and drinks were served, starting with some plantain (dodo), yam chips, French fries, and chicken. Later, they had some jollof rice too. To round it off, they each had a muffin and a scoop of ice cream for dessert before going home. While some of the younger children chose to explore the facilities and play, the older ones chilled and chatted among themselves. It was a lovely ambiance and a beautiful occasion.

Yinka, Mary and Grace’s sponsor, joined us early on. She stayed a while to chat with her children and take some private pictures (she’s a private one). It was really great having her with us, and she is so attentive to their needs, proactively making suggestions to improve things for them. We hope more sponsors will take advantage of these opportunities to meet and engage with their sponsored children.

A couple of the children with us are waiting for sponsors. Victoria and Joshua came with their mother and enjoyed being among the FLA Kids for Valentine’s. But they need your help so that we can enrol them and settle their fees. A few of our children were unable to make it due to their distance from the event, the cash withdrawal challenges in the country, and other logistical issues. Hopefully, they will be present for our next outing. All the children who came got home safely, praise God.
